 Seniors

The last hurray for the year for Surrey Park was out at the ever sunny Springvale. Today's game didn't count for much from Surreys point of view because a win wouldn't have taken them anywhere special, so instead Turtle just wanted the boys to go out and give it their best shot. It would be fair to say if you thought Surrey park weren't actually on the ground in the first quarter as Springvale exploded from the gun and gave Surrey a shock. Springvale were making it look like a training drill as they pumped the ball in the forward line time after time and went into the first quarter brake with a six goal lead. The game didn't change that much at the start of the second and Surrey now started to play ball with Springvale and the game slowed up a bit. Surrey hit form late in the quarter and started to put some scores on the board, but had their momentum slowed as the half time siren went and both teams headed for the rooms. The half time brake didn't give both teams that much of a rest as all thoughts where on the game and for Surrey they wanted to brake Springvale. The third quarter was much like the second as Surrey took a while to get into the groove but once in it they only managed a couple of goals before the final brake for the year. Surrey knew that the game was out of reach and no matter what they did they wouldn't be bale to pull bake the districts. Surrey went out and did what they could and as something's worked and others things didn't Surrey walked off the ground together as a team which would to me was the stand out this year, No matter what the panther boys did they stuck together and played for each other as a team.

Well as we all know the year has come to an end and I would like to take this time to express my gratitude towards the Surrey Park Football club. Yes it wasn't our best year ever but it dose seem that we are starting to make base for ourselves to build on. I would like to thank everyone that has helped me with the web site this year and those that helped me down at the club, until next year enjoy the summer and keep looking at the site for details about pre season. -Antony Garcia

 Reserves

With the finals now out of the question the reserves where playing for fun and pride. They knew that Springvale didn't have much of a chance for finals and when they went out they wanted to make their mark to show that Surrey Park shouldn't be left out the equation. Both teams took their time to get used to the wet weather football but by the end of the first quarter Springvale was able to adapt better then Surrey which gave them a couple of goals lead going into the second quarter. The second quarter was better for Surrey but they seemed to be finding it hard to finish the plays they started as they spent a good amount of time getting it to the forward line but once down their they struggled to put it through the posts for a score. Surrey tried their best to keep pulling Springvale back but like the seniors half time slowed Surrey down. Once out in the third quarter Surrey seemed to be having that same trouble of using the ball to the best of their ability and the stand in coach was trying hard to make sure that Surrey made an impact on the game. Surrey looked tired at three quarter time but this didn't stop them as they wanted to finish the year with something to remember and Surrey played right up until the final siren. Surrey fell just short of Springvale going down by 20 points and ending the year in 7th spot.
